The Cascade Route is an exciting addition to the game with authentic early 1900s steam engines and other Great Northern rolling stock for a challenging route over the rugged Cascade Pass in Washington State. The game's object is to get passengers, crew, and mail safely to Seattle while overcoming obstacles like snow slides, switcher problems, and coal and water shortages.

The Great Northern Railway Cascade Route is a new limited liability corporation established to develop and manage the creation of the 3D models and routes for inclusion in the Trainz Simulator Store under the guidelines of a Content Creator Agreement (TCCP) with NV3 (Trainz Simulator).
